Witch's Hat, Bandon Beach
Back for the last time at Susitna Place B&B in Anchorage. A lovely place, but no bears!
Downtown Anchorage. Not going to like having to return to civilization!
Mount Redoubt, volcano with its summit hidden in the clouds. It last erupted in 2009.
Duck Island in the lower right, where we got some good Puffin and Bald Eagle images a couple days ago.
Mount Iliamna, a big volcano, looms in the distance.
Looking back on Silver Salmon Creek as we begin our flight back to Anchorage.
Our Beaver coming to pick us up from the beach for our return to Anchorage.
Our main lodge building on the right and one of the separate cabins on the left.
We enjoyed three nights in this cozy cabin with a great view of the meadows in front of the lodge.
How fitting on our last morning that a sow grizzly would walk across the meadow in front of our lodge with her two new cubs (born this spring) following closely! I made this shot from our cabin.
Our group in front ot one of the adjacent cabins. From the right is Ron (our tour leader), Oliver (son of the lodge owner), and Rick (our bear guide). The rest of our group consists of Lynne, Brad, Linda, Debbie, Steve, Paula, and me.
As we were returning along the beach in the late evening, we encountered this lone bear walking along the water's edge with nice lighting and reflection.
A close-up of the grizzly sow with her "no nonsense" look. You would not want to get her upset!!
One of her cubs seems undecided whether to flee or fight!
